wine: the highest expression of the union among work, nature and Tuscan territory
Tradition, tie to the territory, good care of the vineyards and the cellar, feature the wines of this Farm, that in 1967, with a few other producers, founded the Consortium "Wine Brunello di Montalcino"
The wine producer Azienda Agricola Capanna is situated on the north side of the Montalcino hill and it is considered one of the best Brunello “cru”. Vineyards are still cultivated with passion and experience at an exclusively family level; no doubt their production is made of exclusive wines.
... our hands move carefully among the green leaves to position the shoots.
Our arms seem to join with other arms: the vineshoots.
And our faces are always looking up to see if it is raining or fine
We suffer so much in bad years, perhaps just as much in good years
Because then it is all down to us...
13 hectares dedicated to Sangiovese Grosso, and dedicated to the production of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, in the centre of which stands the Castle completed in 1441 by the Tricerchi family.
Chiusi is an ancient, vocated land, whose territory includes this Farm. This Etruscan land 2500 years ago already excelled in the cultivation of the vine: history and territory are essential for the activity of this family Farm. The nature of the soil and the climate were the background to a significant effort in enhancing the existing wine heritage: years of research and testing have resulted in 28 selected clones of Sangiovese, of which 4 pre-phylloxera from an old vineyard sapling having a density of twenty thousand plants per hectare. Everything is joined to a great rigor in the vineyard and in the winery. It is in the cellar that culture and territory blend: its entrance is in fact a real completely preserved Etruscan tomb. There unfolds a series of tunnels obtained in a natural tuff cave with a natural constant temperature and humidity, leading to the real cellar itself, for vinification and aging.
The area's history and the energy of those who once occupied it are kept here and blend with modern viticulture but respectful of the ancient knowledge.

A long time ago now, in 1963, the founder acquired the territory of the “Campo alla Capanna” località, only a few steps from the Bolgherese street, between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri. He paid 9 million old lire, which gave origin to the somewhat nostalgic name of the estate.
Then the family decided to focus on quality by bottling the wine and creating DOC and IGT wines. These wines embody the essence of the typical flavors of the Castagneto and Bolgheri zones, thus giving a new significance to autochthon varieties like Sangiovese and Trebbiano.
