Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2016
Known as the younger brother of Brunello, but which expresses its own identity strongly linked to the terroir, it is a young wine that combines the structure with vivacity and freshness. Thanks to its drinkability and harmony, it shows a vibrant fragrance on the palate and pleasantness that will delight you with every taste, combining it with classic Tuscan first courses and contadina soups.
Grape varietal: Sangiovese Grosso, also known as “Brunello” di Montalcino, denomination “a cascade”
Vinification: medium fermentation on pomace, with frequent pumping of the wine over the cap, maximum temperature left to rise freely up to 28° C and then to decrease freely until racking
Ageing in wood: from 6 to 8 months in medium-large Slavonian and French oak barrels
Refinement in bottle: 2 months in airconditioned rooms
Colour: intense ruby red
Bouquet: elegant, floral, with a spicy note
Taste: well structured, drinkable and pleasant, full bodied, harmonious and balanced
Food pairings: pasta with meat sauces, soups, roast meats, seasoned cheese. Serve at 18° C
First vintage produced: 1975
Climate conditions: A moderate winter and a hot april anticipate in 15 days the maturation of grapes, than a cooler temperature and rain in may and june moisturize the soil. Summertime was instead hot but not so much, with a perfect temperature excursion between day and night in the first half of september that facilitate a faster maturation and a good sugar stenght of grapes, rich in acidity, colors and parfums, starting the harvest in the late september.
